Mixed Media Portraits

The idea of 'painting with fabric' led to the development of this mixed-media technique. The portrait image is created through the combination of materials alone, without the use of paint.

It seemed appropriate to use recycled materials from Monaco to reflect the Prince's work in raising awareness to global ecological issue and the various recycling initiatives implemented within Monaco.

Constructed from granulated, heat compressed plastic bottles collected by the International School of Monaco, local plastic bags and recycled plastic injection moulded eyelets - the idea was to demonstrate the variety of recycling processes, from community involvement to the latest recycling technology and traditional craftsmanship.

Commissioned by Barclays Wealth for the foyer of their new premises in Monaco, the portrait was unveiled by Prince Albert to officially mark the opening of the bank.
